The Early Years Foundation Stage

                        
 
The Early Years Foundation stage is the framework we use in our preschool to encourage children to enjoy and achieve during  their time with us. 
 
It enables us to observe the children to find out what they are interested in and to plan an exciting range of activities, which will help them to learn in all areas of development.

We use a play based approach to learning where the children have opportunities to work alone and in small or large groups. This enhances their learning and encourages them to be independent, builds their confidence and self esteem helping them to become capable, confident and have a positive self image.

The key themes of the Early Years Foundation Stage are:

·         A unique child

·         Positive relationships

·         Enabling environments

·         Learning and development

 

The areas for learning and development which activities are planned around include 3 prime areas, these are fundemental to learning:

·         Physical development

·         Personal, social and emotional development

·         Communication and language 

And 3 specific area, which include essential skills and knowledge for children to participate successfully in society:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive Arts and Design
